CREDIT MANAGER

In line with our transformational strategy aiming at financially inclusive solutions through deposit taking and alternative distribution channels, we invite applications for the position of CREDIT MANAGER tenable in Maseru, Lesotho.
 
Purpose of the Job: 
1. To assist in the management of credit approval and collection processes in Lesotho.
2. Managing relationships with employers and strategic partners.
3. Ensures that all operational activity aligns with credit control objectives.
4. To implement the strategies, collections and tracing procedures rolled out by Senior Credit Manager.
5. Make sure all credit risks identified are mitigated on timely manner.
6. Provide timely and accurate detailed analyses and periodic reports to support management decision making.
 
Key Accountabilities:
1. Controls: reviewing and implementing existing and new processes, and ensuring that appropriate controls are in place to mitigate risk in execution of unit’s mandate and policies. 
2. Compliance: Ensure all local regulations impacting Credit function are complied with. 
3. Self-Assessment: Ensure consistent & effective execution of Group, Business, Local Control Self assessments and Key risk indicators (KRIs) and initiate appropriate action to address exceptions. Ensure results of self-assessments are effectively documented to evidence quality of execution. Ensure adequate product/activity knowledge & skill-set are learned for performing the function.
4. Health-checks: Ensure appropriate Health-checks are executed with findings highlighted with action plan and closure status tracking
5. Supervision of submission of request list to Employers for payment of employee monthly loan repayments and ensure that all supporting documents are included.
6. Coordinate the liaison with employers and CDAS in order to collect outstanding debts.
7. Supervise batching, and ensure manual batching is done for exceptions.
8. Achieve collection rate as per company policy.
9. Analyzing credit failures and recommending ways of improving the credit approval process.
10. Obtain authorization for and supervise rescheduling of accounts.
11. Categorically separate accounts into ages and classes before writing off.
12. Effective management of arrears by ensuring that all technical and administrative arrears are rescheduled immediately and arrears due to lack of funds are suspended or defaulted for further action as per credit policy.
13. Attend to the rejection list from the government (CDAS) and liaise with the government’s collection agency 
14. Analyse non performing accounts and hand them over to Senior Credit Manager to motivate write offs or interest suspension.
15. Compile and submit on a monthly basis, Collection Report to the Senior Credit Manager.
16. Supervising the control of filing policy and to ensure that client files are safely guarded and files are comprised of correct documentation.
17. Scrutinizing of rejected loans reports and loans awaiting reports.
18. Recommends changes of approval policies and process to Senior Manager.
19. Management and supervision of courier mail deliveries.
20. Ensure Compliance with Regulatory laws and local laws.
21. Ensure Compliance with credit manual to minimize risks and fraud.
 
Knowledge and Experience Required of Job Holder:
 
1. A Bachelor Degree in Business Management, Accounting or Law (LLB).
2. 5 years continuous relevant work experience especially in a financial services institution with at least 2 years credit management experience.
3. Good proficiency in MS Office- excellent computer skills
4. Team player with ability to plan work flow to maximize efficiency
