Purpose of the Role:

  •  To plan, organise and coordinate subsidiaries investigations and intelligence activities to minimise security risks exposure such as theft, fraud and vandalism and reduce losses in line with established policies and standards.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Monitors customer accounts and daily reports for suspicious activity related to money laundering, identity theft and wire fraud.

  • Responds to fraud alerts by notifying customers or other account privileges and closing accounts.
  • Performs tactical fraud analysis of systems to identify patterns, habits and trends of fraud to prevent or minimise losses.
  • Investigate fraud claims against the customers by following governing regulations, policies and procedures when gathering evidence and information. Respond to subpoenas and providing timely and accurate evidence to law enforcement agencies.
  • Process appropriate disposition of fraudulent items by gathering information and presenting documentary evidence accurately and timely.
  • Works with customers to identify transactions, identify potential suspects, complete necessary paperwork, and eliminate future fraudulent transactions.
  • Maintains awareness of new fraud techniques and security developments for counteracting fraud.
  • Analyse emerging issues, risks or needs and identifies potential causes, related topics, key stakeholders and barriers

Knowledge and Experience Required of Job Holder:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Actuarial Sciences, Economics or other quantitative, business or technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and business applied experience.
  •  At least 5 years’ experience in credit related role, preferably consumer credit and loan operations, a credit union or other financial institution or Risk Management environment
  • Certified Forensic Investigation Professional (CFIP) mandatory
  • Certified Fraud Expert (CFE) preferred
  • Knowledge of current industry threats, trends, technologies and issues that potentially affect organisation’s business
  • Understanding and interpretation of financial statements
  • Ability to understand the economics of the business and appropriately weigh risk/reward trade-offs.
