Introduction
The Head of Collections and Recoveries will execute and oversee the implementation of initiatives related to Early, Late and Post Write off deduction at source, MSE, Secured and Unsecured Collections for Letshego Group. With specific responsibilities on: End to End operational design;
•Operational planning and performance;
•Design, development, change acceptance and operational economics;
•Resource management;
•Ownership of the annual operating budget
•Managing the Collections relationships with in-country partners and the Group.
The Head of Collections and Recoveries will be responsible for the overall collections strategy for the group.

Specification

1.Align the country and group targets for Collections to the goals outlined in the relevant Collections strategy. Explain targets to team members to ensure their comprehensive understanding as well as monitoring of execution. 
2.Co-develop collections plans in conjunction with the Group Head of Credit Risk and oversee the complete country execution to reduce Impairments for the portfolio under management. 
3.Execute the relevant segmentation strategies into the Collections portfolio country-wide. 
4.Align country Collections plans and resources to the country and group focus, thereby ensuring consistency. Translate and communicate the Collections strategic goals for effective execution within the countries 
5.Use and analyze industry knowledge and trends as well as customer and consumer feedback to build recommendations to improve business performance with a focus on customer rehabilitation and retention. Work with the relevant country Head of Collections and the in-country COO to implement and optimize the collections capability from the trends. 
6.Keenly review current process and procedures and continuously innovate and look for opportunities to improve efficiency within the current processes and control frameworks. Any proposed changes that are outside approved processes require escalation within the existing framework. 
7.Assess and monitor the Collections Portfolios with the focus on rehabilitation and customer retention. 
8.Keenly analyze and identify accounts in Late Collections that are beyond rehabilitation and implement appropriate strategies to address. 
9.Analyze and interpret Management Information trends and proactively act on these results.
10.Manage the internal incentive pool as stipulated in the approved guidelines, where the scheme has been approved and is in force. 
11.Ensure that the business remains within the Impairment budget allocated to the Collections unit by reviewing performance statistics provided by the respective teams on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. 
12.Manage the overall performance of the Collections Portfolio for the group
13.Manage the Ageing of portfolios effectively to minimise impairments within the rules as defined in the applicable policies.
14.Oversee the profitability of asset realisation in Secured Late Collections, by closely monitoring the Assets in possession process.
15.Accountable for the definition, agreement and achievement of pre-delinquency collections operational performance objectives 
16.Accountable for the Collections and Recoveries operating budget 
17.Accountable for identifying operating requirements and improvements for the end to end pre-delinquency and collections processes 
18.Accountable for ensuring quality MI is produced to enable performance and benefits to be monitored and measured 
19.Accountable for building strong relationships with service providers, including 3rd parties and internal areas, to drive out process improvements and establish operational designs 
20.Management of policy dispensations and waivers in conjunction with Group Credit Risk and Risk Management. 
21.Ensure that processes, control requirements and risk management frameworks that have been designed for the area are understood by all members of the team./countries
22.Develop a high performing team by recruiting and promoting the best people in line with the business’s needs, supporting the enhancement and development of people, embedding formal performance development and informal coaching.
   
Requirements
Qualifications: 
•The applicant should hold a University Degree or equivalent
Experience: 
•A minimum of three to five years’ managerial experience. Previous experience gained in either senior Collections or Operational roles over a 2-5 year period.
•.Possession of clear thought and expression, both verbal and written, together with the ability to mix and converse freely with all levels of management. 
•The Job Holder should be able to identify and assist with strategies to maximise benefit from opportunities that arise to give some input to upside benefits to the business. 
•Ability to analyse, monitor and came up with collection strategies for the group
•Ability to devise solutions relevant to a particular situation considering the specific circumstances, laws and norms of each country.
•Where problem facilities are identified, workout and loss control strategies need to be formulated and job holder needs to be able to bring knowledge and experience to this, both first hand, and also of a “where else to look and seek advice” nature.
•Ability to create a structured predictable environment and to be able to seek out inconsistencies.
•Ability to identify issues and come up with unique and practical solutions.
•Ability to devise revised strategies to avoid repeat mistakes.
•Ability to develop a good working relations with all colleagues for a smooth running of the business
