PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION
Responsible for the management and control of internal and statutory reporting requirements and processes within the Bank and related companies.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)
1. Compliance

• Implementing policies and controls for compliance with International Financial Accounting and Reporting Standards. This includes ensuring that IFRS calculations are performed and all relevant entries are accounted for timeously.
• Implement policies and controls for compliance to statutory and regulatory rules. This includes compliance to Bank of Namibia requirements as well as to ensure that the relevant calculations are performed and accounted for timeously.
• Implement external audit findings into operational policy and processes.
• Responsible for the maintenance and balancing of the general ledger controls and processes in terms of the policies of the Bank.

2. Consolidated Financial Reporting

• Prepare financial reports for the Country Management Committee and Group Finance
• Ensure complete and timeous submission of all statutory returns and reports.
• Ensures that all queries on statutory returns and reports are promptly resolved.
• Prepares the consolidated Letshego Annual Financial Statements for publication.

3. Liaise with External and Bank of Namibia auditors

• Co-ordinate and facilitate audits and information regarding external and Bank of Namibia audits and reviews.

4. Personnel Management, Training, Development and Facilitation

• Ensure that staff is efficiently and effectively deployed, engaged and empowered to perform to their full potential.
• Ensure that formal and on-the-job training is effectively planned and conducted to ensure that sufficient expertise is available to deal with the work.
• Ensure that the mentorship in the department is effective to enable all personnel to develop to their full potential.
• Ensure that staff evaluations and performance discussions are done on a regular basis and in accordance with Company guidelines.
• Ensure that steps are taken to develop employees for performance improvement.

5. Strategic Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting

• Assist with the strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting process of the Bank and related companies.

Experience/Knowledge & Skills
• At least 5 years working experience in the Financial / Management Accounting field
• Knowledge of Business & Administration Procedures
• Knowledge of the Accounting systems and Processing activities
• Sound knowledge of VAT and Income Tax
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to meet strict deadlines
• Must have an aptitude for detail and critical analysis
• Oracle experience will be an added advantage
• People Management skills in coaching, mentoring, team goal structuring and performance management
• Computer literacy essential (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Business acumen

• Excellent verbal and written communication proficiency in English

QUALIFICATIONS

• Honours Degree in Accounting / Management Accounting
• Completed articles
• Professional membership (ACCA/CIMA) would be an advantage
